Course Description - AR150
The route consists of 6 stages.
Stage I – MTB
Length approximately 31 km. Elevation gain approximately 300 m. 6 control points; given order.
The route goes through mostly open, hilly terrain; it mainly follows asphalt roads with low traffic.
Time of the fastest team: 2 hours.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage II – Hiking / Skiing
Length approximately 26 km. Elevation gain approximately 900 m. 4 control points; given order.
The stage can be completed on skis (ski touring or backcountry recommended) or on foot, although having ski equipment is not mandatory.
Estimating the time for the fastest team is very difficult. In the skiing version, assuming good snow conditions and good skills of the participants – approximately 3 hours, while in the walking version – approximately 6 hours.
The route goes through forested, mountainous terrain. In the skiing version, it mostly follows gravel roads; in the hiking version, gravel roads or paths.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage III – MTB
Length approximately 28 km. Elevation gain approximately 400 m. 5 control points; given order.
The route goes through mostly open, hilly terrain; it mainly follows asphalt roads with low traffic.
Time of the fastest team: 2 hours.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage IV – Trekking
Length approximately 24 km, elevation gain approximately 1000 m. 10 control points; free order.
The route goes through forested, mountainous terrain; it follows paths or goes through the forest.
Special task – descending a roped steep slope and abseiling.
Time of the fastest team: 8 hours.
Navigation: fairly difficult.
Stage V – MTB
Length approximately 31 km. Elevation gain approximately 800 m. 9 control points; given order.
The route goes through forested or open, hilly terrain; it follows gravel and asphalt roads with low traffic.
Navigation task.
Time of the fastest team: 2.5 hours.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage VI – Trekking
Length approximately 9 km. Elevation gain approximately 300 m. 6 control points; free order.
The route goes through forested, mountainous terrain; it follows paths or goes through the forest.
Time of the fastest team: 2.5 hours.
Navigation: fairly difficult. LIDAR map.
Total: 149 km, 3700 m of elevation gain, 40 control points, time of the fastest team: 20 hours.
Teams return to the base after stages III, IV, V, and VI.
