Course Description - AR150
The route consists of 6 stages.
Stage I – MTB
Length: approximately 25 km, elevation gain: approximately 200 m.
The route goes through mostly open, hilly terrain; it follows gravel and asphalt roads with low traffic.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage II – Hiking / Skiing
Length: approximately 26 km, elevation gain: approximately 900 m.
This stage can be completed on skis (recommended: skitouring or backcountry) or on foot; having ski equipment is not mandatory. Under normal snow conditions, people skilled in skiing will complete this stage faster.
The route goes through forested, mountainous terrain. In the skiing version, it mostly follows gravel roads; in the hiking version, gravel roads or paths.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage III – MTB
Length: approximately 25 km, elevation gain: approximately 400 m.
The route goes through mostly open, hilly terrain; it follows gravel and asphalt roads with low traffic.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage IV – Trekking
Length: approximately 20 km, elevation gain: approximately 800 m.
The route goes through forested, mountainous terrain; it follows paths or goes through the forest.
Special task – descending a roped steep slope and abseiling.
Navigation: fairly difficult.
Stage V – MTB
Length: approximately 35 km, elevation gain: approximately 500 m.
The route goes through forested or open, hilly terrain; it follows gravel and asphalt roads with low traffic.
Navigation: fairly easy.
Stage VI – Trekking
Length: approximately 15 km, elevation gain: approximately 600 m.
The route goes through forested, mountainous terrain; it follows paths or goes through the forest.
Navigation: fairly difficult.
Teams return to the base after stages III, IV, V, and VI.
