Zimowy Rajd Doliną Soły 2023 – Courses description

Adventure Race

Teams start the competition with a 4-hour trekking leg. Checkpoints (CPs) are completed according to rogaining rules. CPs are scored differently, from 2 to 6. There is a special navigational task during this stage. Depending on the precision of the task, you can get from 0 to 10 points (PP). The task lasts several minutes and it is not obligatory.

After the trekking leg, teams will have around 1-hour “surprise”. Teams will be informed about the details during the briefing.

After that, competitors start 7-hour MTB stage. Similarly to the previous stage, Cps are scored from 2 to 6. Moreover, there is one special task during MTB leg, which is climbing. It is optional but on other hand it is treated as CP with an importance 10. The task will be completed only if it is done by both team members. Furthermore, as a part of MTB stage, there is a sub-stage on a separate map with associated points. Collecting the associated checkpoint means that the checkpoint is not completed and team receives 30min time penalty. If team corrects their choice by choosing the appropriate point, checkpoint will be completed but the 30min time penalty will be upheld. The sub-stage is not obligatory.

Trekking checkpoints can be completed only on foot and cycling checkpoints only by bikes. Breaking this rule will result in disqualification.

After the “surprise”, competitors will get their bikes and will have access to their bags. They can also leave unnecessary things there.

Due to the character of competition, the length and elevation gain cannot be strictly defined. However, the Organizer assumes that the best teams will do about 25-30km on foot and 80-90km by bike. The total elevation gain should not be more than 800m.
